Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between 432 Hz and 440 Hz tuning?
432 Hz is about 32 cents lower than 440 Hz, a little less than a third of a semitone. Everything sounds slightly lower, and some people find it warmer.
Is 432 Hz better or more natural?
There is no scientific evidence that 432 Hz has special healing or natural powers. It is a matter of taste, so if you like the sound, use it.
Can I play with other musicians at 432 Hz?
Only if everyone tunes to 432 Hz. Most recordings and instruments use 440 Hz, so a 432 Hz guitar sounds slightly flat (too low) next to them.
