Frequently asked questions

What are the double bass string notes?

Orchestral tuning is E1, A1, D2 and G2, the same notes as a bass guitar. Solo tuning raises every string a whole step, to F♯ B E A.

The tuner struggles with my low E. Why?

Laptop and phone microphones can barely hear 41 Hz. Play a harmonic instead (touch the string lightly at its halfway point) and lock the string in Manual mode.
