One extra low string
Standard 7-string tuning is B E A D G B E. That is regular standard tuning with an extra low B (B1, about 61.7 Hz) below the 6th string.
Small microphones struggle with low B. If the needle jumps, play the 12th-fret harmonic and lock the string in Manual mode. The harmonic is an octave higher, but the tuner ignores that.
Keyboard shortcuts

Start the tuner
Press Start tuning and allow access to the microphone. Hold your 7-string guitar 20–50 cm from the mic.

-
Adjust the tuning machine
If the needle is on the left, tighten the string to raise the pitch. If it is on the right, loosen it. Stop when the needle is in the middle and turns green.
Frequently asked questions
How is a 7-string guitar tuned?
Standard 7-string tuning is B1 E2 A2 D3 G3 B3 E4. That is the six strings of standard tuning plus a low B.
What is drop A on a 7-string?
Drop A lowers the 7th string from B to A (A1 E2 A2 D3 G3 B3 E4), so you can play power chords on the two lowest strings with one finger.
The tuner doesn’t hear my low B. What can I do?
Laptop and phone mics struggle to hear notes as low as 62 Hz. Pluck harder, move closer to the mic, or play the harmonic at the 12th fret in Manual mode.
