Bass-like low end
Standard 8-string tuning is F♯ B E A D G B E. It adds a low F♯1 (46.2 Hz) and B1 below standard tuning. Drop E lowers the 8th string to E1, the same note as the low E on a bass guitar.
For the lowest strings, play the 12th-fret harmonic and lock the string in Manual mode.

Frequently asked questions
How is an 8-string guitar tuned?
Standard tuning is F♯1 B1 E2 A2 D3 G3 B3 E4. Drop E lowers the 8th string to E1.
Why can’t my phone hear the 8th string?
The lowest strings sit at 41–46 Hz, which is too low for small microphones to hear well. Play the 12th-fret harmonic, which sounds an octave higher, and lock the string in Manual mode.
Do I need special strings for drop E?
Usually yes. Drop E needs a heavier 8th string than a standard 8-string set has. Otherwise the string flaps and buzzes.
