My Dog Has Fleas
Standard ukulele tuning is G C E A. Sing the classic phrase “My Dog Has Fleas” to remember the order from the 4th string to the 1st.
In re-entrant tuning the G is higher than the C. This gives the ukulele its bright, sparkling sound. Want a deeper sound? Pick Low G.

Frequently asked questions
What are the standard ukulele notes?
Soprano, concert and tenor ukuleles are tuned G C E A (G4 C4 E4 A4). The G string is higher than the C, which is called re-entrant tuning. Remember it with “My Dog Has Fleas”.
What is low G tuning?
Low G tunes the 4th string an octave lower, to G3, for a fuller, guitar-like range. You need a thicker low-G string for it. Then choose “Low G” in the menu.
How is a baritone ukulele tuned?
Baritone ukuleles use D G B E (D3 G3 B3 E4), the same as the four highest strings of a guitar. Use the baritone ukulele tuner.
Why does my ukulele go out of tune so fast?
New nylon and fluorocarbon strings stretch a lot. Retune often during the first week. Once the strings settle, they stay in tune well.
