Tuning the low B
Standard 5-string tuning adds a low B0 (30.87 Hz) below E A D G. Few phone or laptop microphones can hear notes that low. Instead, play the harmonic at the 12th fret and lock the string in Manual mode. The tuner ignores the octave difference.
Some players prefer a high C instead of the low B. For that, choose 5-string high C.

Frequently asked questions
How is a 5-string bass tuned?
Standard tuning is B0 E1 A1 D2 G2, which is 4-string bass tuning with an extra low B.
The tuner can’t hear my low B string. What can I do?
B0 is about 31 Hz, which is too low for most built-in microphones to pick up. Play the harmonic at the 12th fret and lock the string in Manual mode, or plug into an audio interface.
What is drop A on a 5-string bass?
Drop A lowers the B string a whole step to A0 (A E A D G) for extra-low riffs.
